ARTIST'S STATEMENT: My work revolves around the ability of the camera to isolate tiny fragments of time and space in such a way that otherwise fleeting details can be more consciously examined by the observer. I am strongly attuned to elements of color, light and form; rather than attempting to simply document a subject I seek to draw out the texture and mood embodied in those details.
The combined images do not merely compliment one another, but resonate with each other, harmoniously drawing together memory, human experience and the physical world so as to present a unified whole.
BIO: Nicole began her career as a photographer after having received her BFA in Film from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and her Master’s degree in Ceramics from San Francisco State University. Over that time she has produced a large body of personal work as well as a broad and deep portfolio of commercial projects for clients such as Nokia, Dreamworks SKG, American Girl, Target and Paramount Pictures, among many others.
In recent years Nicole has focused more strongly on visual texture and the juxtaposition of imagery. At present, in addition to translating the form and content of her signature diptychs into the realm of video art, she is working on a photographic project, Laughter and After, which brings her attention back to the human physiognomy.
